BCIT

CSC is the first tier of a ladder program leading to a Bachelor of Applied Computer Science at BCIT. It is an intensive, hands-on program that covers a broad range of topics from software development and system architecture to UI design and technical writing. Through hands-on coursework and team-based projects, I gained practical experience in languages like Java, Python, and C as well as working with databases, web and mobile apps, and agile workflows. My favorite courses I took were my electives in Node.js and Computer Architecture. The program gave me an excellent foundation to accelerate my learning and sparked my passion for coding.

Story

Hi, I'm Stewart Anderson. At 33, I've made the decision to shift into tech, bringing with me the experience and determination that come with making a meaningful career change. After completing the Computer Systems Technology program at BCIT, I've focused on developing my technical skills while building on a background in hospitality that taught me how to work effectively in fast-paced, team-driven environments.

I'm comfortable working with Python, Java, C, and the foundational web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I also have experience with several frameworks and environments gained from projects like web applications made with Node and mobile applications built with React Native. As I grow as a developer, I've become especially interested in backend technologies and exploring how they can be applied in the sciences, building on my educational background in Astronomy Physics. Outside of tech, I strive to bring friendly, customer-centered approach to my work, making technology more accessible and engaging for everyone.
